Day 1: Tue November 9 Overnight Flight
Depart from Regina for Israel. Overnight en route.
Day 2: Wed November 10 Tel Aviv – Costal Plain
Welcome to Israel! Upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport you will be met by SMILE, with a warm welcome by your local Sunworld representative. Begin our tour with a drive through the city of Tel Aviv to Jaffa, for a short visit to take in the breathtaking view of the city of Tel Aviv. At this picturesque port city of winding alleys, art galleries and crafts boutiques, King Solomon had the cedars of Lebanon rafted for the building of the First Temple in Jerusalem. You will view the spot of the House of Simon the Tanner. Walk around the renovated artist’s quarter and enjoy a breathtaking view of the shoreline of Tel Aviv. Travel along the Mediterranean Coast to Caesarea. This incredible fortress city built by King Herod the Great is where, Pontius Pilate had his base; where Cornelius lived and was baptized (Acts 10); where Paul embarked to Tarsus (Acts 9:30) and where Philip preached (Acts 8:40). Visit the Roman Theatre, the Hippodrome, and the Crusader City and the Promontory Palace which include the remains of a mosaic floor. Transfer to hotel for a welcome dinner and overnight. Overnight Coastal Plain area.
Day 3: Thu November 11 Coastal Plain – Galilee
After breakfast, we travel to Mt. Carmel to visit the Muhraqa (1 Kings 18) commemorating where Elijah the Prophet defeated the 400 false prophets of Baal, and enjoy a beautiful view of the Valley of Jezreel and Armageddon (Revelation 16). Visit Megiddo, the fortress of King Solomon, with ruins of 20 levels of civilization, and where the Final Battle of Armageddon is said to take place. Continue to visit Gideon’s springs. The spring emerges from a cave known today as "Gideon's Cave" on the foothills of Mount Gilboa. The famous 13th century Battle of Ain Jalut that took place near the spring is considered a major turning point in world history. End the day with a view of the Bahai Hanging Gardens , the most holy site of the Bahia faith in the beautiful port city of Haifa. Overnight in Haifa.
Day 4: Fri November 12 The Galilee – Sea of Galilee
This morning travel through the Galilee to Continue to Nazareth to visit Nazareth Village, the boyhood town of Jesus. Explore the reconstructed village from the time of Jesus. Enjoy a view of the Jezreel Valley and Nazareth from Mt. Precipice. Ascend up to Mt. Tabor, located in the Lower Galilee region of Northern Israel rises with its distinctive shape from the flat and fertile Jezreel Valley. For Christians, Mount Tabor is believed to be the place of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ, where Jesus began to radiate light and conversed with Moses and Elijah. The result is that the site long-ago became a site of pilgrimage. Continue to Mt. Arbel for a stunning view of the Sea of Galilee and the Jesus Trail before we embark on a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, this unforgettable afternoon will be filled with music and worship. End the day with a visit to the Ancient Boat Museum at Kibbutz Ginosar. Dinner and overnight in the Galilee.
Day 5: Sat November 13 Sea of Galilee – Upper Galilee
This morning we will visit the newly excavated site of Magdala the town of Mary of Magdalena. Visit Capernaum and the synagogue where Jesus chose to center his ministry and view the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered what is perhaps the most famous sermon ever preached – “The Sermon On The Mount” (Matt.5). Continue to the Upper Galilee to visit Caesarea Philipi and Banias National Park. Enjoy views of the Golan Heights, the hilly area overlooking the upper Jordan River valley on the west before returning to the Sea of Galilee. Overnight in the Galilee.
Day 6: Sun November 14 Jordan Valley – Dead Sea
This morning visit the Yardenit Baptism site on the Jordan River and a local date and spice store. Travel south along the Jordan Valley to explore the excavated Roman city of Beit Shean. We continue to the lowest area in the World the Dead Sea to visit Qumran, for a visit where a young shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 in the cave, which you will see. These scrolls are the oldest scriptures of the Bible ever found. Enjoy a short hike up to David’s Falls at the oasis of Ein Gedi where David Hid from King Saul. End the day at a Dead Sea Resort. Day 7: Mon November 15 Dead Sea – Negev Desert – Jerusalem
Free morning to relax and enjoy the Dead Sea facilities. Take the opportunity to float in the unsinkable water of the Dead Sea at the lowest point on earth, and cover yourself with the mineral rich mud, believed to have therapeutic effects. Late morning travel to visit the Fortress of Masada. We will take a cable car to the summit of this magnificent fortress built by King Herod the Great and the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots. You will walk around these historic ruins and you will see the palaces, bath houses, swimming pool, the oldest synagogue in the world on this mountain in the middle of the desert. Continue to Kfar HaNokdim Bedouin camp for an unforgettable afternoon of Desert Hospitality and a camel ride. Travel via the Judean Hills up to the city of Jerusalem. Visit the Israel Museum where you will find the Shrine of the Book housing the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest manuscripts of the Bible ever found. Marvel over the model of Jerusalem from the Second Temple Period as it looked from the time of Jesus. We return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 8: Tue November 16 Ancient Biblical Jerusalem
Step back in time through our journey of Jerusalem. Visit the City of David and walk through the 3400BCE Hezekiah’s Tunnel and the Pool of Siloam (John 9) to Warren’s Shaft. Enter the Old City Walls of Jerusalem to visit Davidson Center and the original Southern Steps that led to the Temple. Walk through the Jewish Quarter and Cardo. Pray at the Western Wall. Walk along the Way of the Cross and old city markets. Visit the Pool of Bethesda (John 5) and St. Anne’s Church ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Spend time in the old city markets. Overnight in Jerusalem
Day 9: Wed November 17 Bethlehem - Jerusalem
This morning visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s memorial to the Holocaust commemorating the six million Jews who perished. Visit and walk through the Museum to visit the Children’s Memorial, walk along the Avenue of the Righteous Gentiles for those who risked their lives to save Jewish lives. Continue to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus to visit Manger Square, Shepherd’s Field and have time for lunch and shopping at the Beit Sahour Souvenir Store. Continue to the Mt. Of Olives for a spectacular view of the Old City, Walk downhill through the ancient Jewish Cemetery along the Palm Sunday path to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done (Luke 22). End the day with quiet reflection and prayer at the Garden Tomb (I Corinthians 15, Luke 24, Mark 16). Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 10: Thu November 18 Departure
After breakfast transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your flight home or extend your trip to Jordan.
OPTIONAL JORDAN EXTENSION
Day 10: Thu November 18 Jerusalem – Mt. Nebo – Madaba-Petra
For those who choose the extension to Jordan we will depart fter breakfast for Allenby Bridge to cross into Jordan. Meet your guide and bus and drive to Mt Nebo, the most revered holy sites of Jordan, where Moses viewed the Promise Land of Canaan and told by God “you shell nor cross over there”. This is also the resting place of Moses. Continue to biblical Madaba, the City of Mosaics best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. The famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy land covers the floor of the Greek Orthodox church of St Georges. Dinner and Overnight in Petra
Day 11: Fri November 19 Petra
After breakfast visit the Nabataea’s city of Petra consider the Jewel in Jorda’s crown. According to tradition, the Israelite leader Moses struck a rock and water gushed forth. The valley is enclosed by sandstone cliffs with shades of red and purple varying to pale yellow, and for this reason Petra was called a “rose-red city half as old as Time.”Enter the city through the Siq – a narrow gorge and admire the beautiful geological strictures. See the grand Amphitheater, the Royal Tombs and the Monastery. Petra is the city where the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was filmed. Overnight in Petra
Day 12: Sat November 20 Petra – Kerak – Jerusalem
After breakfast travel to see the ancient Crusader stronghold, Karak. Karak is 900m above sea level and lies inside the walls of the old city. The city today boast a number of restored 19th century Ottoman buildings, restaurants, places and Karak Castle. Continue to Machaerus which is a fortified hilltop is overlooking the Dead Sea where John the Baptist was imprisoned and executed. Drive to Allenby Border to cross back to Israel. Overnight in Jerusalem
Day 13: Sun November 21 Departure
After breakfast transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your flight home.
