After lunch we will drive to Jerash the “Pompeii” of the Middle East, and the most beautiful preserved Greco-Roman city in existence. Its imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all speak to the time when this was an important imperial centre. Hidden for centuries in sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East. Transfer back to downtown Amman for a very traditional dinner at the Hasham Restaurant one of the most famous restaurants in the city, where the King of Jordan also has dined. After dinner stop for some sweets at Habiba bakery, famous for serving knafeh; a cheesy sweet Arabic desert. On our way back to the hotel experience a Sunset View from the Citadel in Amman and reflect on this extraordinary day. Overnight in Amman.
