1. Day  1   Sat Mar 2                           Departure

Depart Toronto  

Meals will be served on board.  Overnight en route

Day  2   Sun Mar 3                                         Arrival / Israel

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion airport you will be met by Sunworld Tours representative and travel to Tel Aviv for a city tour of the highlights. Visit Jaffa(Joppa) where Peter stayed with Simon the Tanner (Acts 10:13). This is also the location where Jonah sailed from when he went to Tarshish. From Joppa we will have a great view of the seaport city of Tel Aviv. This evening we will share our first Israeli meal together. Dinner and overnight in the Tel Aviv / Coastal Plain area.  

 

Day  3  Mon Mar 4                        Coastal Plain- Galilee

Drive along the Mediterranean Coast to Caesarea, the site where Paul defended himself before Festus and King Agrippa. Tour the aqueduct and the restored Roman amphitheater. Proceed to the Muhraqa where Elijah challenged and defeated the 400 prophets of Baal. From a view point on Mt. Carmel we will look down on the Valley of Jezreel and also see the Israeli Airforce base. We will stop at the Druze Villages on Mt Carmel and continue to visit Megiddo, the site of Armageddon. The Book of Revelation talks about this final battle. (Revelation 16:16). Continue through the Galilee to the Sea of Galilee area for dinner and overnight.

 

Day  4   Tue Mar 5                          The Galilee – Sea of Galilee

Travel through the Galilee for a view of Nazareth from Mt of Precipice and on to see the Synagogue Church in Nazareth and Nazareth Village. Visit Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle. Drive up Mt Tabor to see Church of the Transfiguration where Jesus was transfigured and talked to Moses and Elijah. Continue to the Sea of Galilee to Kibbutz Degania to learn about agricultural development in the land and one of the first Kibbutz settlements in Israel. End the day at Yardenit to have a baptismal service in the Jordan for those wishing to be baptized as Jesus was, in the Jordan.  Dinner and overnight in the Sea of Galilee area.

 

Day  5  Wed Mar 6                                        The Sea of Galilee

After breakfast drive to visit Capernaum, where Jesus chose to center his ministry. Tour Tabgha the site of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Visit to the Boat Museum, to see the 2000 year old “Jesus Boat” which was discovered in 1986 then sail across the Sea of Galilee. Visit the newly excavated site of Magdala. Dinner and overnight in the Sea of Galilee area.  

 

Day  6  Thu Mar 7                                          Jordan Valley – Jerusalem

After breakfast visit Beth Shean and tour the excavations that have revealed Israel’s largest ruins of a Roman City. Enjoy a scenic drive down the Jordan Valley on the way to Jerusalem. Stop for a visit at Genesis Land in the Judean Wilderness to experience Hospitality in Abraham’s Tent and a short camel ride. Ascend up to Jerusalem on the Pilgrim route and enjoy the first glimpse of the City of Jerusalem from Mt. Scopus. Travel to Government Hill to see the Israeli Parliament and Supreme Court buildings. Visit the Israel Museum to see the Model of First Century Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

 

Day  7    Fri Mar 8                                          Bethlehem / Jerusalem

Travel to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus, to view the Church of Nativity and Manger Square and visit the Shepherd’s Fields. Return to Jerusalem to spend some time at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and Museum. In the afternoon visit the City of David with the excavations from the beginning of the City of Jerusalem from King David’s Time. Explore the site including Hezekiah’s Tunnel, Gihon Spring and the Pool of Siloam. End the day entering the Old City walls to see the Southern Wall Steps that led to the Temple in the Time of Jesus at the Davidson Centre. Explore the Renovated Jewish Quarter and pray at the Western Wall. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

 

Day  8  Sat Mar 9                           Jerusalem

Begin the day by driving to Mt. of Olives to view the “Golden City”. This is where Jesus began His Palm Sunday journey into Jerusalem. Walk down the Palm Sunday to visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus spent the night in prayer and the Church of All Nations. Continue to Mt. Zion to see the Upper Room where according to tradition Jesus had His final Passover with His disciples with a stopover to see King David’s Tomb. Visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Enter the Old City walls to explore the Christian Quarter and old city markets. Walk along the Way of the Cross with stops at the Pools of Bethesda and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. End the day with a tour and communion at the Garden Tomb.  

Overnight in Jerusalem

 

Day  9  Sun Mar 10                        Dead Sea

This morning travel down to the lowest area in the World. View Jericho and Kaser El Yehud baptism site. Visit Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Enjoy a float in the salt mineral waters of the Dead Sea. Stop at Ein Gedi to tour the desert Oasis where David hid from King Saul (I Samuel 23:29). Dinner and overnight in the Dead Sea area.

 

Day 10  Mon Mar 11                      Dead Sea / Eilat

This morning visit Massada, the fortress built by King Herod. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the excavations. Travel through the Arava Desert south to the Red Sea Resort town of Eilat. On the way stop at the famous dairy farm of Kibbutz Yotvata and visit Timna National Park – King Solomon’s Mines and Pillars with possibility of visiting the replica of the Tabernacle in the Desert.

Dinner and overnight in Eilat.

 

Day  11  Tue Mar 12                      Eilat Israel / Petra Jordan  

Today we will go through the border crossing formalities to cross into the Kingdom of Jordan. Travel via the Red Sea port of Aqaba and via the Natural beauty of Wadi Rum Desert (Lawrence of Arabia) on the way to the World Heritage site of Petra. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

 

Day  12  Wed Mar 13             Petra  

Enjoy a full day tour to explore the amazing beauty of the Nabatean monuments carved into the Red Rose stone in the Wilderness. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

 

Day 13   Thu Mar 14               Departure

Transfer to Amman Airport for flights back home.
