Israel Tour with Wanda and Sharon: March 13 – 25, 2024

Day 1                    Wed.  March 13                 Depart Canada

Day 2                     Thurs.  March 14                Israel

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion airport you will be met by Sunworld Tours representative. Meet your guide and driver and board the bus to travel to Neot Kedumim the Biblical Landscape Reserve in Israel. This unique re-creation of the physical setting of the Bible in all its depth and detail allows us to see life as it was lived 3,000 years ago. Continue for a drive through Tel Aviv for a stop at Joppa where Peter stayed with Simon the Tanner (Acts 10:13). This is also the location where Jonah sailed from when he went to Tarshish. End the day at Natanya on the Mediterranean Coast. Welcome Dinner and overnight at hotel by the beach in Natanya.  

Day 3                     Fri.   March 15                   Coastal Plain - Galilee

This morning travel north along the Plain of Sharon to visit Caesarea, the site where Paul defended himself before Festus and King Agrippa and where the Gentiles were first empowered with the Holy Spirit (Acts 10 & 11).  Tour the aqueduct and the restored Roman amphitheater. Continue to Mt. Carmel and the Muhraqa where Elijah challenged and defeated the 400 prophets of Baal. Continue along the Jezreel Valley  to Megiddo the fortress city of King Solomon I Kings 9:15; 10:26).  From here the books of Daniel and Revelation will come alive.  You will drive through the fertile plains of the Jezreel Valley where the final Battle of Armageddon will take place. Travel to Nazareth, the boyhood town of Jesus and on to  Mt. Precipice (Luke 4:29-39).  Pass by Mt. Arbel  on the way to the Sea of Galilee  for dinner and overnight at Hotel by the beach. 

Day 4                     Sat.  March 16                    Sea of Galilee 

Begin the day on the shores of Galilee at the newly excavated site of Magdala,  home of Mary Magdalene. Continue to Capernaum, where Jesus chose to center His Ministry, the site of many miracles (Mark 2:4; Matt. 8:5; 14:7; 9:1-7; 17:18). Visit the 2000 year old Jesus Boat Museum at Kibbutz Ginosar and sail on the Sea of Galilee, on a wooden boat.  We will then visit the Mt of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Visit a spice store Tamar BaKfar and end the day at the Yardenit Baptism site, on the Jordan River. Dinner and overnight by the Sea of Galilee.

 

Day 5                     Sun.   March 17                  Upper Galilee / Golan Heights

Travel to the Upper Galilee via, the Hula Valley, to visit the Banias Nature Reserve, site of the ancient Caesarea Philippi.  Visit Tel Dan to see ruins from Abraham’s time. See Mt. Hermon as you travel through the Golan Heights and enjoy a panoramic view  of  Israel, Syria and Jordan from the Mt. Bental Bunker. End the day with a “hands-on experienceat the Talmudic Biblical Park of Katzrin  (The Katzrin Village takes you back to life in the 4 C.E.  and it’s the only one of its kind). Travel back to the Galilee with a stop for a view of the Sea of Galilee.  Dinner and overnight by the Sea of Galilee.  

Day 6                     Mon. March 18                  Jordan Valley – Dead Sea   

Drive south along the Jordan Valley to Beit She’an, where the body of King Saul and his sons were placed on the walls by the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:10).  Tour the excavations that have revealed Israel’s largest ruins of a Roman City. Enjoy a scenic drive down the Jordan Valley on the way to the lowest point in the world the Dead Sea.  But first, visit the Oasis of Ein Gedi where David fled the wrath of King Saul.  Ride a cable car to visit the Fortress of Masada, King Herod’s  desert fortress, (later the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in the revolt against Rome)Check into your hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea toenjoy the Hotel Spa facilities and salt mineral waters.  Dinner and overnight at Hotel by the Dead Sea beach.  

 

Day 7                     Tues.  March 19                                Dead Sea -  Jerusalem  
Enjoy some time at the Dead Sea before departing to visit Qumran where a shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls and take time to shop for Dead Sea products. Travel up to Jerusalem via the Judean Wilderness with views of Wadi Qelt and the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Enter Jerusalem for a first view of the Holy City from Haas Promenade, andtake in a view of Bethlehem from Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. Travel to Government Hill to see the Parliament Buildings and visit the Israel Museum to see the Scroll of the Book and the Model of First Century Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Central Jerusalem by Jaffa Road. 

 

Day 8                     Wed.  March 20                                Jerusalem
Visit the City of David, including Hezekiah's Tunnels and the Pool of Siloam (John 9). Walk the Pilgrims route to the walled old city. Enter the Old City through the Zion Gate and walk through the restored Jewish Quarter to the Western (“Wailing “) Wall.  Visit the Davidson Centre to walk on the steps where Jesus walked in and out of the temple, and where He drove the buyers and sellers out. Pray at the Western Wall and havetime for lunch and shopping in the Old City.

Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

 

Day 9                     Thurs.  March 21                               Jerusalem  

Visit Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. Continue to the Mount of Olives tobegin your walk down thedown the Palm Sunday Road to visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus spent the night in prayer.  Stop at the Church of All Nations. Walk along the Way of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Stop to visit the Pool of Bethesda (John 5). End the day at the Garden Tomb.

Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem

 

Day 10                  Fri.  March 22                     Negev Desert / Eilat 

Travel South through the Negev Desert. Stop for a camel ride and Bedouin Hospitality. Continue through the desert to the Red Sea Resort of Eilat. Dinner and overnight in Eilat by the Northern Promenade. 

 

Day 11                  Sat. March 23                     Free Day at Red Sea or Optional Tour of Petra - Jordan

Free day in Eilat to enjoy the beautiful Red Sea, or take an optional day tour to Jordan to visit Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight in Eilat.

Day 12                  Sun. March 24                    Eilat / Tel Aviv

Travel to Tel Aviv, visit the market in Tel Aviv for some final shopping. Farewell dinner and overnight at your hotel by the beach.

 

Day 13                  Mon. March 25                                 Home

Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your flight home
